Gurdaspur, January 2 – As per the instructions of the honorable Gurdwara Election Commission, the preliminary publication of the voter lists for the six Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) election constituencies in Gurdaspur district—104-Sri Hargobindpur, 105-Batala, 106-Kala Afghan, 107-Dera Baba Nanak, 108-Dhariwal, and 109-Gurdaspur—will be carried out at the designated locations including the Deputy Commissioner’s office, offices of the concerned revising authorities/returning officers, tehsil offices, patwar circles, and the notified Sikh Gurdwaras on January 3, 2025. From January 3 onwards, the voter lists will be available for public viewing at these locations.
Providing details about this, Deputy Commissioner of Gurdaspur, Shri Uma Shankar Gupta, mentioned that the revising authorities for the respective constituencies are:
- 104-Sri Hargobindpur (SDM Kalanoor)
- 105-Batala (SDM Batala)
- 106-Kala Afghan (SDM Fatehgarh Churian)
- 107-Dera Baba Nanak (SDM Dera Baba Nanak)
- 108-Dhariwal (Assistant Commissioner (J) Gurdaspur)
- 109-Gurdaspur (SDM Gurdaspur).
Claims/objections regarding the draft voter list will be accepted from January 3, 2025 to January 24, 2025, and the received claims/objections will be resolved by February 5, 2025. He further stated that any approved claims/objections will be incorporated into the drafts and sent for printing by February 24, 2025, with the final publication of the voter list scheduled for February 25, 2025.
Deputy Commissioner Shri Uma Shankar Gupta also mentioned that if there are any clerical or printing errors in the draft voter list, they should be brought to the attention of the concerned revising authorities so that necessary corrections can be made before the final publication. He stated that claims/objections regarding the draft voter list can be submitted in writing to the revising authorities either personally, by mail, or through any authorized agent before the specified date. Only those individuals who are 21 years or older and whose names are already registered in the voter list of the respective constituency can raise objections.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to all eligible voters in the district who have not yet registered to fill out the forms and get their voter registrations done by January 24, 2025. For any information regarding voter registration, voters can contact the Voter Helpline at 1950.
