Ludhiana, December 31, 2024 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): Eight individuals from Khanna, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Amloh, and Uttarakhand defrauded a property dealer in Ludhiana of ₹1.12 crore under the pretext of purchasing land for Tata Steel. The incident dates back to 2023, but the property dealer only realized the fraud a few days ago and filed a written complaint with the police. After weeks of investigation, the Dugri Police have registered a case against the eight accused and initiated the investigation.
According to Jagdish Lal, in 2023, he was introduced to Baba Jaswant Singh from Amloh through an acquaintance. Jaswant Singh claimed to have contacts in Tata Steel and said that the company planned to set up a large unit from Ludhiana to Rajpura, requiring a large plot of land. He also mentioned that he worked in acquiring properties for Tata Steel and promised a huge commission if Jagdish Lal helped them with land. Jagdish agreed to assist.
The accused showed him fake documents and seals from Tata Steel and gave him several property documents, leading him to believe they were legitimate. Encouraged by the potential profit, Jagdish showed them several pieces of land, and they agreed on some of them. During this time, the accused took ₹8 lakh from him for preparing the necessary documents. They gradually extorted a total of ₹1.12 crore from him by citing additional expenses. However, they never finalized the deal nor returned the money.
On December 3, 2024, Jagdish filed a written complaint with senior police officials. After several weeks of investigation, the Dugri Police registered a case against Satinder Singh, Parminder Singh (both from Ludhiana), Dalere Singh (Amloh), Anil Singh Saini, Ashutosh Gupta, Ram Singh Thapa (from Dehradun), and Bilal Ahmed, under sections related to fraud, criminal activity, and document tampering. The police have initiated a search for the accused and will soon arrest them.
