Chandigarh, December 27, 2024 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): In Punjab’s Greater Society, a mother and son died from asphyxiation after sleeping in a closed room with a coal stove. The father was hospitalized in an unconscious state. A worker named Deepak, from Nepal, lived with his wife Parshupati and their one-and-a-half-year-old child in a servant quarter.

Deepak took the coal stove to the quarter while sleeping with his family. Late at night, he faced breathing difficulties and tried to wake up his wife and son, but they did not respond. The room was filled with smoke, and Deepak also became unconscious. The owner informed the police, and a team, led by SHO Satyendra Singh, rushed to the scene and took the unconscious trio to the hospital, where they were referred to PGI. Doctors declared the mother and child dead, and Deepak’s treatment continues. SHO Satyendra Singh confirmed the incident, stating that the deaths occurred due to the coal stove, and the investigation is ongoing.
