Bathinda, December 26: Education is the third eye of a human being. Along with excelling in studies, students can achieve a respectable status in society. These views were expressed by Deputy Commissioner Mr. Shaukat Ahmed Pare at the local Meritorious School during his participation in the “Project Punjab Academic Coaching for Excellence Winter Camp,” which will run until December 31, 2024. Accompanying him on this occasion were Bathinda Rural District President and Chairman of Nagar Sudhar Trust, Mr. Jatinder Bhalla, and the Principal of Meritorious School, Dr. Gurdeep Singh.
While addressing parents and teachers during a meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that education is the only medium through which students can overcome the disparities of poverty and social inequality. He emphasized that if students are given proper guidance, they can achieve even the most challenging milestones. He appealed to parents to ensure their children receive a good education so the living standards of future generations can be elevated. He further urged parents to regularly visit schools and review the academic progress of their children with teachers.
The Deputy Commissioner praised the Punjab government’s unique initiative, stating that such camps not only enhance students’ intellectual capabilities but also brighten their future. He mentioned that in this winter camp, special coaching for JEE and NEET exams is being provided to 602 students from 118 Schools of Eminence and 10 residential Meritorious Schools across the state. During the event, he shared his thoughts with the students preparing for JEE and NEET and assured them that they could approach his office anytime if they faced any challenges.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner visited classrooms and interacted with the students, motivating them to work hard. He highlighted that hard work is essential for achieving success in life and is the true key to accomplishment.
The Principal of Meritorious School, Dr. Gurdeep Singh, explained that under the guidance of Punjab’s Education Minister, Mr. Harjot Singh Bains, the education department launched the “Project Punjab Academic Coaching for Excellence Camp.” This initiative aims to help government school students excel in competitive exams like JEE and NEET. Students are being prepared for these exams by diligent staff from Vidya Mandir Classes, New Delhi, and Avanti Fellows, New Delhi.
Present at the event were District Education Officer (Secondary) Mr. Shivpal Goyal, Deputy District Education Officer (Secondary) Mr. Sikander Singh Brar, District Education Officer (Elementary) Mrs. Maninder Kaur, Deputy District Education Officer (Elementary) Mr. Mahinder Pal, and other notable figures, including media team members Harmandar Singh, Balveer Singh Commando, Principal Karamjit Singh, Davinder Kumar, Nisha Bansal, Gurpreet Kaur, and retired District Science Supervisor Mr. Harcharan Singh, along with officials from the Mohali headquarters and parents of the students. The staff of the Meritorious School was also in attendance.
