Chandigarh, December 26 – Haryana Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini appealed to people on the occasion of Veer Bal Diwas to draw inspiration from the sacrifices of Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Sahibzadas. He urged parents to teach their children the values of courage, sacrifice, and responsibility embodied by the Sahibzadas and to incorporate these principles into their lives, calling this the true tribute to their extraordinary sacrifice.
The Chief Minister also called upon religious leaders and social organizations to unite in a mass movement against social evils like drug addiction, aiming to eradicate this issue and safeguard the youth.
Addressing the congregation at the state-level Veer Bal Diwas program held in Kurukshetra, the Chief Minister paid homage to the Sahibzadas, saying that Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh’s supreme sacrifice inspires the nation to make the greatest sacrifices for its welfare. The story of their martyrdom, achieved at a young age, is etched in history with golden letters.
Chief Minister Saini thanked Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for declaring December 26 as Veer Bal Diwas to honor the martyrdom of the Sahibzadas. He highlighted that Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s family made unparalleled sacrifices for religion and the welfare of society. Between December 20 and December 27, 1704, Guru Ji’s family gave their lives for the protection of dharma and the people, a sacrifice considered the greatest in world history.
The Chief Minister also paid tribute to Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, the great Sikh warrior who avenged the Sahibzadas’ martyrdom. He praised Baba Banda Singh Bahadur for breaking the invincibility of the Mughals and laying the foundation of a sovereign Sikh state at Lohgarh, located in Haryana’s Yamunanagar district.
Highlighting the bravery of the Sikh community, Shri Naib Singh Saini said that Sikhism has given the country ten great Gurus who made countless sacrifices for the nation and society. He also spoke about Haryana’s deep connection with Sikh history, mentioning places like Lohgarh and Kapal Mochan, where Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji left lasting legacies.
Initiatives to Honor Sikh Heritage
The Chief Minister highlighted several steps taken by the Haryana government to honor Sikh history, such as establishing Guru Teg Bahadur Ji Medical College and renaming the Panipat college after Baba Fateh Singh Ji. Other initiatives include naming roads and institutions after Sikh Gurus and preserving historical sites.

Haryana BJP President Shri Mohan Lal Bhadoli thanked PM Modi for recognizing the supreme sacrifices of Sikh Gurus and declaring Veer Bal Diwas. He emphasized the importance of remembering and sharing the sacrifices of heroes for the nation’s progress.
Recognizing the Martyrdom of Sahibzadas
Information and Public Relations Department Director General Shri K.M. Pandurang welcomed the Chief Minister, noting that Veer Bal Diwas commemorates the bravery and supreme sacrifice of Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh Ji, who gave their lives at a young age to uphold their faith and principles.
The event also included speeches from dignitaries such as OSD Dr. Prableen and Kurukshetra University Vice Chancellor Professor Somnath Sachdeva. Former Minister Subhash Sudha and prominent leaders from the Sikh community were also in attendance.
