Hoshiarpur, December 23: Municipal Corporation Hoshiarpur has taken concrete steps to ban the use and sale of single-use plastic. Giving information in this regard, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Amandeep Kaur said that as per the instructions of the Government of India and the National Green Tribunal, Delhi, single-use plastic has been banned. A complete ban has been imposed on its use and sale.

Commissioner Municipal Corporation said that the officials of the sanitary branch of the Municipal Corporation and the Punjab Pollution Control Board conducted a joint inspection campaign. During this, strict action was taken against those using and selling single-use plastic. All single-use plastic items were seized on the spot. The goods were seized and three challans were issued imposing fine as per the rules laid down by the government.

Commissioner Municipal Corporation has appealed to the citizens to completely stop using single-use plastic and contribute in making the city clean and eco-friendly.
