Bathinda, December 20: Deputy Commissioner Shri Shoakat Ahmad Puri stated that all families of former soldiers, as well as the general public and elderly in the district, are receiving full respect and honor for their service. This was shared during a quarterly review meeting of the District Welfare Services Department, where he discussed the efforts being made for the welfare of former soldiers, alongside addressing their issues.

While chairing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner not only listened to the problems faced by former soldiers but also assured that legitimate issues would be addressed on priority. He mentioned that if any former soldier, widow, or their families face problems, they can visit the office during working hours to seek help.

During the meeting, discussions were held on various matters including Flag Day Fund collection, resolving complaints of ex-servicemen, issuing gun licenses for ex-servicemen, obtaining income certificates, availability of medical specialists and medicines at the ECHS polyclinic, updating life certificates by banks, recovery actions, and signing of reemployment certificates. On this occasion, checks of ₹80,000 were presented to four widows.

Present at the meeting were Brigadier Amardeep Singh Dhillon (Retd.), Army Medal, Colonel Warrant Officer Mukul Gupta (81 Sub Area Bathinda), District Welfare Services Officer Commander Dilpreet Singh Kang, along with former soldiers and the entire staff of the District Welfare Services Department.
