Chandigarh, December 10, 2024 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau)- The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today held Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann directly responsible for the murderous attack on Sukhbir Singh Badal.
The party asserted that Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar was in collusion with the attacker — Narain Singh Chaura.
SAD spokesman Parambans Singh Romana said the Amritsar police had deliberately filed a weak FIR against the perpetrator by recording that Chaura was a member of the ‘sangat’ who tried to attack Sukhbir but was overpowered by police personnel and shot was fired in the air.
“The manner in which ISI agent Chaura is being protected by the Amritsar Police Commissioner indicates that the former is a “CAT” (unofficial police operative) of Bhullar. The Amritsar police registered an FIR in the case after a delay of six hours. It is working towards diluting the case and even giving a clean chit to the perpetrator by making it one of a simple case of ‘hawai fire’ instead of a pre-planned murderous assault conducted after two days of intense recee.”
Romana demanded that mobile phones of the Amritsar Police Commissioner, SP Harpal Randhawa and the SHO of E Division police station be seized to uncover the conspiracy behind the murderous assault as well as the cover up operation launched in its aftermath.
“This will reveal why SP Randhawa accorded VIP treatment to the perpetrator Chaura during the latter’s recee of Darbar Sahib and also that the conspiracy to eliminate Sukhbir stems from the very top of AAP,” he added.
Romana said, “Since the Punjab Police is directly involved in the attack against Sukhbir, it cannot conduct a fair probe into the same. The SAD requests a CBI or NIA probe into the entire incident or one which is monitored by the high court.”
He also announced that the party would approach Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and apprise him about the manner in which loopholes had been left in the security of Sukhbir and how no effort was taken to apprehend Chaura while he was conducting a recce of the Darbar Sahib complex despite the fact that he had earlier claimed that the SAD leader was on his hit list.
AAP spokesperson Neel Garg said he would not comment on this issue as the probe was underway.
