Chandigarh, December 6, 2024 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau)- On Wednesday, an attempt was made to shoot Sukhbir Singh Badal, leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, at the gate of the Golden Temple in Amritsar. He was performing religious duties by guarding the gate of Harmandir Sahib. An elderly man named Narain Singh Choudhary approached him, took out a pistol, and fired at him. However, the prompt action of his security officers, ASI Jasbeer Singh and ASI Heera Singh, led to the immediate arrest of the attacker. The assailant fired at Badal from close range, but the bullet hit the wall. The attacker was caught by local people, and the police were notified. The police arrived at the scene and arrested the attacker.
Sukhbir Badal Gets Emotional, Posts on Social Media
After the attack, Sukhbir Singh Badal met the two police officers, ASI Jasbeer Singh and ASI Heera Singh, and hugged them while praising their courage. He shared an emotional post on social media, stating, “Putting your life at risk to save someone’s life is not an easy task. ASI Jasbeer Singh and ASI Heera Singh have been part of our family since the time of S. Parkash Singh Badal. The bravery and loyalty they showed yesterday are things my family and I will never forget. May Waheguru bless them with a long life, good health, and all happiness.”
