Delhi, December 6, 2024 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau)- Farmers from Punjab and Haryana, who have been protesting at the borders for the past 11 months, will march towards Delhi today. Police security has been increased near Ambala’s Shambhu border, Jind’s Khonori, and Sonipat’s Singhu. Interestingly, the farmers have submitted a list of 101 people to the administration, requesting permission to proceed. The police have also set up barricades around the borders and sealed them. Schools in Ambala have been ordered to remain closed.
On the other hand, after the announcement of the farmers’ march to Delhi, heavy police vigilance has been deployed at the Khuiyan toll plaza in Dabwali, Sirsa, with a strong police force stationed there. Police have also been stationed on the Dabwali-Sirsa road before entering Sirsa city. Farmers from Punjab may travel to Delhi via Dabwali, Sirsa.
Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher, while speaking to News18, said that Ambala DC is spreading rumors that thousands of people will gather, but this is not true. He further stated that the DC claims that farmers will be armed, which is a complete lie. Farmers will gather in small groups, and no tractor or trolley will be involved in the gathering. We are following the court’s orders, and only those whose names have been provided will march to Delhi. Meanwhile, Haryana police have canceled the leave of its personnel.
Ambala Schools Closed:
In light of farmers’ anger and to maintain law and order in the district, the district administration has issued orders for all government and private schools in the district to remain closed on 06/12/2024. The District Education Officer in Ambala has instructed all concerned authorities to ensure strict compliance with these orders and inform school principals, staff, and parents promptly.
