Mumbai November 29, 2024 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau) – A total of Rs 9.12 lakh crore has been planned to increase the capacity of electricity transmission infrastructure in the country by the year 2032. The government has given this information in Parliament. Minister of State for Power Shripad Yesso Naik said in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha that the National Electricity Plan (Transmission) covers the transmission plan up to the year 2031-32.

According to this plan, 1,91,474 circuit kilometer (CKM) of transmission line and 1274 giga volt ampere (GVA) transformation capacity (at 220 kV and above voltage level) will be added in a period of 10 years from 2022-23 to 2031-32. Along with this, Naik said that 33.25 GW high voltage direct current (HVDC) bi-pole link has also been planned.

He told the House that a total of Rs 9,16,142 crore is likely to be spent on this scheme. He informed that 7,300 MW nuclear power capacity is under construction and administrative approval has been given to 7,000 MW capacity. Regarding renewable energy projects, Naik said that a total of 1,27,050 MW renewable energy capacity is under implementation by October 31, 2024 and bidding process is underway for 89,690 MW.
