India November 29, 2024 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau) – India’s Ambassador to Germany Ajit Gupte recently made a big revelation and shared important views on the trade relations between India and Germany. He said that German companies are now considering India as an important and potential destination for global supply chains, especially in the post-Covid-19 pandemic and global conflict situations.
On this occasion, Gupta said that due to the pandemic and conflicts, Europe and Germany have come to understand that they can no longer make their supply chains dependent on a single country. Now they are working towards creating more flexible and risk-reducing supply chains. German companies are now considering countries like Malaysia, Thailand and Mexico along with India.
Apart from this, Gupta also raised the issue of shortage of workers in Germany. He said that there is a demographic crisis in Germany where the number of elderly people is increasing and there is a shortage of workers. To solve this problem, Germany has increased the visa quota for Indian skilled workers to 90,000. This will provide employment opportunities to Indians not only in high-level sectors like IT and finance but also in medium and low-level sectors.
Gupta also said that many German ‘Mittelstand’ (medium-sized companies) which are leaders in global technology are now looking for partnerships and technical cooperation with India. These companies are now looking at opportunities to enter new markets and form joint ventures with Indian companies. Apart from this, there is also a succession crisis in these companies, which can open up acquisition opportunities for Indian companies.
On this occasion, he said that to take advantage of all these opportunities, Indian companies will need some research, confidence and risk taking. Thus, German Ambassador Ajit Gupte highlighted the growing opportunities in the German market for Indian companies and new opportunities for India in strengthening business relations between the two countries.
