Arjun Tendulkar, son of India legend Sachin Tendulkar, stayed with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2025 meg-auction as the five-time IPL Champions made a bid for him in the very final round. For once, it looked like Arjun might go unsold for the second time in the day. But MI once again decided to back their homegrown player.
Arjun has been with MI since the IPL 2021 mini-auction. He was with MI as a net bowler before that. Arjun had a base price of Rs 30 lakh and joined the Hardik Pandya-led side for the same amount. As Arjun now prepares for another IPL season with MI, here we have a look at how Mumbai Indians ignored him twice before bidding for him –
Under the IPL rules, there was a first accelerated process after the 116th player. The teams were asked to submit the list of players whom they wanted in the accelerated round. None of the teams sent Arjun’s name and his name wasn’t called up.
Once again, the teams were asked to submit the list of players for the accelerated process. Arjun’s name was announced for the second time in the final few minutes of the proceedings. MI finally decided to bid for him and they kept his services for Rs 30 lakh.
Not once, MI ignored Arjun twice before bidding for him. He has been with MI since IPL 2021. The bowling all-rounder made his IPL debut in 2023 and played 4 matches for them in the season. He only played one match in 2024. Arjun will hope to get a long run in IPL 2025.
