Oscar Award-winning music director AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu announced their separation on Tuesday. They issued a joint statement confirming the news of their split and requested fans to given them privacy during their trying times. Rahman also shared a separate statement on X regarding the separation. While fans offered their support, a section of social media trolled him for using the hashtag ‘#arrsairaabreakup.’
In his statement, Rahman wrote, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter. #arrsairaabreakup”
Several social media users pointed out that it was unnecessary to use a hashtag. A few also noted that it was ironical to create a hashtag while asking for privacy.
