Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur is the only Indian player in the 50-player shortlist for the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) Team of the Decade released on Thursday.

The greatest players from the WBBL’s 10-year history will be honored this season with the Big Bash to name the official Team of the Decade.

The Indian right-handed batsman has played 62 matches for Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades so far in the WBBL. He scored 1440 runs at an average of 37.89 including seven fifties.

The list includes players who have played at least 60 WBBL matches prior to the current season. Big Bash has appointed a selection panel of experts to tackle the tough task of narrowing down to just 12 positions.

The panel, chaired by Cricket Australia director Kelly Smith, includes Mel Jones, Lisa Sthalekar, Matthew Mott, Quentin Hull, Laura Jolly and Alistair Dobson.

Fans will also have the opportunity to select their Team of the Decade, with public votes given equal weight to the panel’s selection.

Public voting on the Big Bash app will open from November 11 to 24. The panel will then review the public votes and add their own selections to finalize the 12-player side, which will be announced at the WBBL 10 Finals on December 1.

According to league rules, the final eleven players will consist of a maximum of three foreign players.
