Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelati and Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani discussed efforts to end conflicts in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
In a phone conversation, Abdelati and Al Thani touched on their countries’ joint efforts to facilitate an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the safe delivery of humanitarian aid to the war-torn region, Egypt’s foreign ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
The two ministers also discussed the latest developments in the conflict in Lebanon, stressing the importance of reaching a swift ceasefire while providing immediate humanitarian assistance to the Lebanese people.
In addition, they emphasized efforts to prevent the expansion of ongoing conflicts in the region, the news agency quoted the statement as saying.
Egypt, Qatar and the United States have been working to broker a ceasefire in Gaza since the conflict between Hamas and Israel erupted in October last year.
There have been several rounds of talks in Doha and Cairo over the past months but failed to reach any serious agreement to end the year-long conflict.
