Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee President Harmeet Singh Kalka and General Secretary Jagdeep Singh Kahlon have announced that due to the anniversary of the 1984 Sikh massacre, Deepmala will not be organised in the Gurughars under the Management Committee.

In a statement issued from New Delhi, President Kalka and General Secretary Kahlon said that every year from 31 October to 2 November we remember and pay tribute to the martyrs of the 1984 Sikh massacre. He said that this year the festival of Bandichhor Divas/Diwali has come on these days. Therefore, we have decided that this year Deepmala will not be organized in the gurdwaras under the Delhi Gurudwara Management Committee.

He appealed to the congregation not to light Deepmala in their homes while paying tribute to the martyrs of the 1984 Sikh genocide. It is very important for us to pay homage to our martyrs and that is why this decision has been taken by the organizing committee.
