Many invested in businesses, becoming millionaires. It’s no surprise that India’s richest actress ranks among the top 10 wealthiest actresses globally. However, what is unexpected is that she hasn’t delivered a hit film in the past decade.
India’s richest actress is Juhi Chawla, according to the 2024 Hurun Rich List. With a net worth of ₹4600 crore ($580 million), Juhi is second only to her friend and business partner Shah Rukh Khan among India’s wealthiest actors. Her fortune far surpasses that of her peers and younger stars.
Juhi’s wealth exceeds the combined net worth of the next five richest Indian actresses. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan holds second place with a net worth of around ₹850 crore ($100 million), followed by Priyanka Chopra at ₹650 crore, thanks to her brand deals, film production company, and Hollywood projects. Rounding out the top five are Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone, who also have significant business ventures.
While Juhi Chawla’s career in cinema laid the foundation for her wealth, her fortune largely stems from her business ventures. A top star in the 90s, her last hit film was Luck By Chance in 2009. Most of her wealth comes from her role as a key figure in the Red Chillies Group, where she is a co-producer and co-owner of several ventures, including the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders. She also has substantial real estate holdings and other business investments with her husband, millionaire businessman Jay Mehta.
