8 october 2024 : Television actor Madhura Naik recounted the traumatic experience her family endured during the October 7 attacks in Israel, marking the anniversary of the tragic event. She described it as “the darkest day” of her life, recalling that she lost her first cousin and brother-in-law in a deadly crossfire in Sderot. The attack, carried out by militants, occurred in front of her cousins’ two young daughters, aged six and three. Naik shared the heart-wrenching story of the six-year-old’s final plea for help as the Israeli police rescued them, drenched in their parents’ blood.
Naik emphasized that terrorism is not bound by religion, race, or gender, recounting how an Arab Muslim man, who tried to save her sister and children during the crossfire, was also killed, further underlining the indiscriminate nature of the violence. She expressed that her family now lives under constant fear and that terrorism only breeds more hatred and enmity.
During the same event, Israel’s Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, reflected on the profound shock Israel experienced on October 7, acknowledging the atrocities and vowing to defeat their enemies. The conflict, which escalated after Hamas militants breached Israel’s southern border, has claimed thousands of lives and sparked further regional tensions.
