7 october 2024 : BJP leader Tajinder Bagga, known for his controversial remarks, has joined the reality show Bigg Boss. His entry was announced by host Salman Khan during the grand premiere of the show’s 18th season on Sunday.
At 38 years old, Bagga is affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s youth wing, ‘Yuva Morcha,’ where he currently leads the Uttarakhand branch, having previously served as the national secretary of the group.
Bagga has been politically active for several years, joining the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in his teenage years. In 2011, he founded the Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena, an organization he claims fights against corruption. He gained significant media attention when he interrupted a book launch by author Arundhati Roy and slapped lawyer Prashant Bhushan at a Supreme Court event.
His prominence grew after Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office in 2014, with Modi visiting Bagga at his home in 2015, acknowledging Bagga’s rising influence on social media. This led to his reputation as a “Twitter troll,” often stirring up controversies.
Tajinder Bagga’s Controversial History
Bagga’s tweets have consistently sparked outrage. In 2018, he mocked actress Swara Bhaskar over a scene in “Veere Di Wedding.” In 2020, he criticized Deepika Padukone for her support of students at Jawaharlal Nehru University during a violent incident. He has also been vocal against Arvind Kejriwal, leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
This season of Bigg Boss is set to be exciting, featuring 18 contestants competing for the winner’s trophy and a significant cash prize. Alongside Tajinder Bagga, the other contestants include Karan Veer Mehra, Vivian Dsena, Shehzada Dhami, Avinash Mishra, Eisha Singh, Nyrraa Banerji, Gunaratna Sadavarte, Chaahat Pandey, Arfeen Khan, Sara Arfeen Khan, Hema Sharma, Rajat Dalal, Muskan Bamne, Shilpa Shirodkar, Alice Kaushik, Chum Darang, and Shrutika Arjun Raaj.
The show is hosted by Salman Khan, who has been a fixture since the fourth season in 2010. The previous season, Bigg Boss 17, was won by stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui.
