3 october 2024 : Tata Electronics announced plans to resume some operations at its fire-affected plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, which manufactures components for Apple iPhones. A spokesperson for the company stated, “We have been diligently working since Saturday to determine the cause of the fire at our Hosur facility,” according to Reuters.
Operations had been halted since September 28 due to a significant fire that occurred in a chemical storage area of the electronics component factory.
In their statement regarding the incident, Tata Electronics emphasized that “the safety and well-being of our employees is always our top priority.” The company plans to restart work in several areas of the facility and assured that all team members will continue to receive their full pay while they work towards fully resuming operations.
Regarding the impact of the fire on iPhone supplies, Tata Electronics produces smartphone cases for Apple’s iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 series at the Hosur plant. However, the company has indicated that the incident is not expected to affect iPhone supplies, as it has sufficient stock to meet demand for the next three months.
