September 30, 2024: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was discharged from Fortis Hospital in Mohali today after his health showed improvement. He was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday night due to sudden health issues and was placed in the ICU under medical supervision on the third floor.
Around 2:45 PM, the Chief Minister returned home with his OSD Rajbir Singh. Although doctors have advised him to rest for a few days, sources indicate that he has scheduled meetings for this evening with senior officials from various departments regarding paddy procurement and stubble management. During this time, Punjab’s Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, Speaker Kuldeep Singh Sandhu, Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, and Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains visited him at the hospital. Former Education Minister Pargat Singh also inquired about Mann’s health.
According to Dr. R.K. Jaswal, Director of the Cardiology Department at Fortis Hospital, the Chief Minister’s condition is stable. Blood tests indicated a positive result for leptospirosis, and he underwent several important heart-related tests, all of which returned normal results.
Sandhu Dismisses Security Increase Discussion
Punjab Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Sandhu also confirmed the Chief Minister’s improved health. When asked about the recent increase in security measures and any significant responsibilities he might assume, he dismissed the question with humor, suggesting the media would be better informed and stating, “I have no knowledge of such matters.”
Mann Conducted Official Work from the Hospital: Cheema
Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated that the Chief Minister is fully recovered and in good spirits. He noted that the rumors spread by political opponents about Mann’s illness are misleading, emphasizing that he conducted official work even while in the hospital. Cheema revealed that the Chief Minister had requested and cleared several government files during his stay, suggesting that others should take a cue from his diligence.
