26 september 2024 : A group of around 60 Lazio fans was intercepted by German authorities while attempting to bypass a police escort prior to a Europa League match against Dynamo Kyiv. Upon inspection late Tuesday, they were found to be in possession of knives, clubs, and other weapons, according to police reports.
The fans were detained until Wednesday and are prohibited from attending the game, although no arrests were made. Due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, Dynamo Kyiv is currently hosting its home matches in Hamburg.
Lazio supporters have a notorious reputation for causing disturbances, leading to numerous sanctions for the club in both Serie A and European competitions. In March, ahead of a Champions League match against Bayern Munich, one Italian fan was arrested and fined for performing a Hitler salute while among other supporters who sang fascist songs in a beer hall linked to Nazi history.
Additionally, the club previously banned a fan for life for wearing a shirt referencing Hitler, which sparked outrage when it went viral on social media. Last season, Lazio also faced penalties that included playing a Serie A match with a section of the Stadio Olimpico closed due to racist chants directed at rival players.
