On September 25, 2024, the Indian tennis pair of Jeevan N and Vijay Sundar Prashant clinched their first ATP title by winning the men’s doubles at the Hangzhou Open. In a thrilling match that lasted one hour and 49 minutes, the unseeded Indian duo defeated the unseeded German team of Konstantin Frantzen and Hendrik Jebens with a score of 4-6, 7-6(5), 10-7. For the 25-year-old Jeevan, this marks his second ATP Tour title, having previously won the Chennai Open in 2017 alongside Rohan Bopanna. This victory also marks Vijay’s first ATP Tour title.
After losing the first set 4-6, the Indian pair made a remarkable comeback, winning the second set 7-6 to force a tiebreaker. In the tiebreak, they led 10-7.
Earlier, the pair of Yuki Bhambri and his French partner Albano Olivetti finished as runners-up at the Chengdu Open after a thrilling final, losing to the French team of Sadio Doumbia and Fabian Reboul with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 4-10. The match lasted nearly an hour and a half. After dropping the first set, Bhambri and Olivetti rallied to win the second set and took the match to a tiebreak, but despite hitting six aces compared to their opponents’ two, six double faults proved costly.
