20 september 2024 : The first Test match between India and Bangladesh started today at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, where India posted a score of 339 runs for the loss of six wickets on the first day. India had a shaky start, losing their first six wickets for just 144 runs, but Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin revived the innings with an unbeaten partnership of 195 runs.

Ashwin scored a century on his home ground, marking his sixth Test hundred. He made 102 runs off 112 balls at a strike rate of over 91, including 10 fours and 2 sixes, while Jadeja contributed 86 runs from 117 balls. Earlier, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 56 runs with the help of nine fours off 118 balls.

Rishabh Pant scored 39 runs, and KL Rahul added 16 runs. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were dismissed for 6 runs each, while opener Shubman Gill did not open his account. Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmud took four wickets in the innings.
