20 september 2024 : The Punjab government has dealt a blow to the Badal family by canceling around 600 bus permits issued in the state. According to reports, these permits were issued illegally. Notably, approximately 30% of the canceled permits belong to the Badal family.
Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar stated that this entire issue stems from the period between 2007 and 2017, during the tenure of the Akali Dal government and subsequently the Congress government. He emphasized that these permits had no proper basis and that several major transporters were involved.
Minister Bhullar also disclosed the names of some transporters and confirmed that approximately 30% of the bus permits belonging to Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal have been canceled as they were deemed illegal.
