10 september 2024 : During a recent visit to the United States, Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, launched a scathing critique of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that Modi has been “psychologically trapped” since the unexpected outcome of the general elections for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In his remarks, Gandhi highlighted the Congress party’s challenges during the election, noting that their accounts were frozen, yet they still managed to undermine what he termed Modi’s vision of India.
Gandhi claimed that Modi has struggled to accept the election results. “When you see the Prime Minister in Parliament now, he appears psychologically trapped and unable to comprehend how the election results unfolded as they did,” he said.
He also criticized Modi’s reaction during the campaign, suggesting that Modi’s assertion of having a direct connection with God was a sign of his psychological distress. Gandhi remarked, “Modi was confident of securing 300-400 seats, but as the campaign progressed, it became evident that his confidence was faltering, revealing a psychological collapse.”
Gandhi attributed Modi’s diminished power to the opposition’s INDIA bloc, which he claimed played a significant role in the BJP’s loss of a simple majority in the Lok Sabha. Despite emerging as the single-largest party with 240 seats, the BJP fell short of a majority.
