5 september 2024 : Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge hailed teachers as “true nation builders” and urged them to educate students about India’s diversity and the ongoing efforts to distort the country’s history. In a message posted on his X handle for Teachers’ Day, Kharge emphasized the importance of teaching children about India’s unity in diversity and the value of understanding the Constitution and its Preamble. He highlighted that Teachers’ Day has been celebrated since 1962 to honor S. Radhakrishnan’s contribution to education. Kharge praised teachers for shaping the future of the nation by instilling values of patriotism, truth, and justice, and called on them to continue imparting these essential lessons to students.
