September 4, 2024: India’s Bhagyashree Jadhav finished fifth in the final of the women’s shot put (F34) event at the Paralympics today. Competing in her second Paralympics, Bhagyashree’s attempt of 7.28 meters was not enough to secure a place on the podium. China’s Lijuan Zou won the gold medal with a season-best performance of 9.41 meters, while Poland’s Lucyna Kornobys secured the silver with an attempt of 8.33 meters. The 39-year-old Bhagyashree, a resident of Maharashtra’s Nanded district, lost her legs in an accident in 2006.
