September 3, 2024 : Bollywood actress Rimi Sen, known for hit films like Golmaal and Hungama, has filed a ₹50 crore lawsuit against the car company Land Rover. The actress is claiming technical defects in her luxury SUV, the Range Rover, as the basis for her legal action. She alleges that these issues have caused her mental distress.
According to reports, Rimi Sen purchased the Range Rover SUV for ₹92 lakh in 2020. The SUV has reportedly faced multiple problems with its sunroof, sound system, screen, and rear-end camera, prompting her to file a complaint against Land Rover.
Technical Defects Found in SUV
As per TOI’s report, Sen bought the SUV from Satish Motors Private Limited, an authorized dealer for Jaguar Land Rover. Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, she did not use the vehicle extensively. However, upon starting to use it again, she encountered several issues with the car.
The actress claims that on August 25, 2022, the rear camera malfunction led to the SUV colliding with a pole. She notified the dealer about this issue and provided evidence. Since then, the car has reportedly faced continuous technical problems.
₹50 Crore Compensation Claim
In her legal notice, Sen claims that the authorized dealer is at fault for both the manufacturing and servicing of the car. She states that the vehicle has been sent for repairs more than ten times, but the problems persist, causing significant mental distress and inconvenience.
Sen is seeking ₹50 crore in compensation for mental anguish, along with an additional ₹10 lakh for legal expenses. She is also requesting a refund for the defective vehicle.
