September 2, 2024: Starting today, September 1st, several rules are changing, which will directly impact your pocket. These changes include rules related to Aadhaar cards, credit cards, LPG cylinders, and Fixed Deposits (FDs). These modifications could affect your monthly expenses. Additionally, the government may also offer a gift to central employees by increasing the Dearness Allowance (DA). Let’s take a look at the changes effective from the first day of this month.
Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Increased
Oil companies have raised the prices of commercial LPG cylinders across the country starting from September 1st. In Delhi, the commercial LPG cylinder has become costlier by ₹39. However, there has been no change in the price of domestic LPG cylinders. It is worth mentioning that in July, the price of a commercial gas cylinder was reduced by ₹30.
Changes in Credit Card Rules
HDFC Bank has set a cap on reward points for utility transactions. This rule will come into effect from today (September 1st). Under this rule, customers can earn a maximum of 2,000 points per month on these transactions. The bank has also removed rewards for educational payments made through third-party apps.
IDFC First Bank will reduce the minimum amount payable on credit cards from September 2024. The payment period will also be reduced from 18 days to 15 days. Additionally, starting from September 1, 2024, customers using RuPay credit cards for payments on UPI and other platforms will receive the same reward points as those using other payment service providers’ credit cards.
Increase in Dearness Allowance
The central government may make a significant announcement for employees in September. It is expected that the government will increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) of employees by 3%. Currently, government employees are receiving a 50% DA, and after a 3% increase, it will become 53%.
Free Aadhaar Updates
If you want to update your Aadhaar card, the last date to do it for free (free Aadhaar update) is September 14th. After this date, you will have to pay a fee to update certain details related to Aadhaar. Previously, the last date for free Aadhaar updates was June 14, 2024, which was extended to September 14, 2024.
Rules Related to FD Investments
IDBI Bank has extended the special FD schemes with tenures of 300 days, 375 days, and 444 days until September 30th, from the earlier deadline of June 30th. Indian Bank has also extended the tenure of its 300-day special FD scheme until September 30th. Meanwhile, the last date for Punjab & Sind Bank’s special FD is September 30th. The SBI Amrit Kalash Special FD Scheme is also set to expire on September 30th. Thus, there will be no further investments in these FD schemes after September.
