September 2, 2024: Paris: World number one archer Rakesh Kumar secured a place in the Paralympic quarterfinals by defeating Indonesia’s Ken Swagumilang in a shoot-off in the men’s compound open category here today. At one point, Rakesh needed 9 points to win but managed only 8, resulting in a tie at 144-144. In the shoot-off, the 39-year-old Indian, who had been eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Paralympics, scored 10 points, while Ken could only score 8 points.
