22 august 2024 : On Thursday, Tamil cinema icon Vijay introduced the flag and emblem of his political party, Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam. He is set to raise the flag at the party’s office in Panaiyur and will also release an official anthem for the party.
The flag features a striking combination of maroon and yellow, adorned with elephants on either side and a peacock encircled by stars at its center.
In February, Vijay announced the establishment of Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam, declaring his intention to contest in the 2026 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. His party did not affiliate with any political coalition during the recent Lok Sabha elections.
During the unveiling ceremony, Vijay expressed, “I understand that many of you are eagerly anticipating our inaugural state conference. Preparations are underway, and I will announce the details soon. Today, I take great pride in unveiling our party’s flag. Together, we will strive for the advancement of Tamil Nadu.”
The actor further committed to the betterment of Tamil Nadu, stating, “From this point forward, Tamil Nadu will improve. Victory is assured.”
The flag unveiling will be followed by a significant rally in the last week of September, aimed at formally presenting the party to the public in Vikravandi, located in northern Tamil Nadu. The party’s registration with the Election Commission is progressing well and is expected to be finalized shortly.
According to sources from Deccan Herald, the flag anthem has been composed by renowned music director S Thaman, with lyrics written by V Vivek.
The event saw the attendance of over 300 members from the TVK and Vijay’s fan clubs.
