20 august 2024 : Apple has initiated training for thousands of employees at its factory in Tamil Nadu to manufacture the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, as reported by Bloomberg News, which cited informed sources. This marks the first time the company will assemble its high-end Pro and Pro Max models of the forthcoming iPhone 16 series in India, in collaboration with its partner Foxconn.
The ‘new product introduction’ (NPI) process for the iPhone 16 Pro models is set to commence shortly at Foxconn’s facility located in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. Following the launch of these models, the operation will transition into the mass production phase.
According to Bloomberg News, Foxconn is expected to begin assembling the devices “within weeks” of the global launch, as per unnamed sources. Additionally, Apple’s other partners in India, including Pegatron’s Indian division and the Tata Group, may also commence production of the Pro versions, as indicated in the report.
The standard iPhone 16, produced in India, is anticipated to be available on the same day as its global release. This development aligns with Apple’s strategy to enhance the production of its flagship iPhone models in India through collaborations with Foxconn and Tata Electronics.
