20 august 2024 : On Monday, Argentina’s head coach Lionel Scaloni revealed his 28-player roster for the upcoming matches against Chile on September 5 and Colombia five days later. Notably, Lionel Messi will be absent from these World Cup qualifying fixtures due to an ankle injury. Additionally, Ángel Di María, who recently announced his retirement from international football following Argentina’s Copa America victory, is also excluded from the squad. Currently, the reigning World Cup champions lead the South American qualifying standings with 15 points after six matches.
