13 august 2024 : Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has communicated with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, indicating that the Central Government may cancel eight highway projects valued at Rs 14,288 crore that traverse the state. This development is likely to exacerbate the already strained relationship between the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab administration and the BJP-led Central Government. In his correspondence, Gadkari expressed that the 293 kilometers of highway projects would be abandoned if there is no improvement in the law and order situation.
