Chandigarh, August 10 : The Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is actively working towards the protection of Destitute animals. In a significant step towards this goal, Mr. Ashok Singla, Chairman of the Punjab Gau Sewa Commission, met with the Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Mr. Jai Krishan Singh, on Friday.
Providing further details on the initiative, Mr. Ashok Singla stated that approximately 400 acres of land in Hoshiarpur district will be designated for the grazing of cows. The aim is to rescue destitute cows wandering the streets and provide them with proper care and maintenance.
Mr. Singla highlighted the growing number of homeless animals in Hoshiarpur district, which has led to an increased risk of accidents. He emphasized the urgent need for effective management of these animals to ensure public safety.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Gursharanjit Singh Bedi, Director of the Animal Husbandry Department, Dr. Ashish Chugh, CEO of the Punjab Gau Sewa Commission, and Senior Deputy General Advocate, Mr. Sumandeep Singh Walia.
