12 July 2024 Punjab Khabarnama : Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia is set to start consultations with the telecom industry to develop a roadmap for its next phase of growth, including a new set of reforms.

The meeting follows the recent spectrum auction which fetched government bids of Rs 11,340 crore against Rs 96,238 crore minimum value that the government had estimated for the spectrum on offer.

The initial meeting with leading industry executives, representatives from industry associations, academics, and experts — who are members of the advisory panel set up for this purpose — is likely to be scheduled for July 16, sources familiar with the matter said.

Top executives of three major private telcos along with Apple India MD Virat Bhatia, HCL co-founder Ajai Chowdhry, former TCS chief operating officer NG Subramanium, and RK Upadhyay of C-DOT, will take part in the discussions.

The goal is to gather feedback from industry stakeholders on existing challenges to address them effectively and identify initiatives that can accelerate sectoral growth.
