Chandigarh, July 10- Under the leadership of Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh, the state government is continuously empowering Panchayati Raj institutions (PRIs) administratively and financially. As part of this effort, the Chief Minister recently. announced that the Panchayati Raj institutions would be allowed to carry out development works costing up to 21 lakhs without following the tender process to expedite development works in rural areas. Today, the department issued directions in this regard, bringing this announcement to fruition.
Sharing more details in this regard, the spokesperson of the Development and Panchayat Department informed that new directions have been issued to Panchayati Raj institutions to undertake development works.
In addition, the government has also abolished the condition which requires Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad to take permission from BDPO; CEO,ZP; Deputy Commissioner respective to spend more than half of the total Gram Fund, Samiti Fund, or Zila Parishad fund to be spent without following the tender process. As a result, Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Samitis, or Zila Parishads can now spend their available funds on development works as they deem fit.
