Chandigarh, July 3 – The Ministry of Trade and Industry of Trinidad and Tobago is hosting an Investment Mission from India this week.A delegation of HAFED meets the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Keith C. Rowley to explore business opportunities. A delegation of HAFED led by its Chairman Sh. Kailash Bhagat along with Dr. Arun Ahuja and Sh. Anuj Tyagi, General Managers meets Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Keith C. Rowley to explore business opportunities for export of Hafed’s Rice, edible oils, etc. to Trinidad and Tobago. The Prime Minister of T&T expressed keen interest in the activities performed by Hafed and emphasised that with the collaboration of T&T with HAFED, they can cater the whole Caribbean region and can expand to North and Latin America.
The delegation has been engaged in several meetings and site visits with key stakeholders in T&T and looks forward to future collaborations in T&T.
The representatives of the delegation of HAFED met with Minister, Trade and Investment, Paula Gopee-Scoon and other government Ministers to look for areas of mutual interest. The delegation also had a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Haji Kazim Hosein and the CEO of National Flour Mills Ltd., T&T, Sh. Ian Mitchell to discuss the opportunities for export of rice and edible oils and other areas wherein HAFED and NFM may collaborate with each other. The discussions centered on the current market demand for mustard oil, sunflower oil, and rice in T&T, Exploration of the regulatory frameworks and trade policies that facilitate the import of these products, and Identification of potential barriers to trade and strategies to overcome them.
Sh. Kailash Bhagat thanked the Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Saini for sending the delegation to T&T to look for business opportunities and said HAFED will continue to look for such opportunities of export of HAFED’s consumer products in the economic interest of the farmers of the State.
