3 July 2024 Punjab Khabarnama : On July 3, domestic institutional investors were net sellers of shares worth Rs 924 crore. On the other hand, foreign investors were net buyers of shares worth Rs 5,484 crore.
According to provisional data from NSE, DIIs bought Rs 14,121 crore worth of shares and sold shares worth Rs 15,046 crore. Meanwhile, FIIs picked up Rs 18,024 crore in shares and offloaded equities worth Rs 12,540 crore during today’s session.
For the year so far, FIIs have net bought shares worth Rs 1.32 lakh crore, while DIIs have bought shares worth Rs 2.40 lakh crore.
At close, the Sensex was up 545.35 points or 0.69 percent at 79,986.80, and the Nifty was up 162.65 points or 0.67 percent at 24,286.50.
Biggest gainers on the Nifty were Tata Consumer Products, Adani Ports, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank and HDFC Bank, while losers were TCS, Titan Company, Reliance Industries, Tata Motors and Hindalco Industries.
The Sensex hit 80,000 briefly before settling slightly lower. On today’s landmark move, Naveen Kulkarni, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at Axis Securities PMS noted that the session began on a positive note, driven by solid performance from HDFC Bank, which is expected to receive passive fund inflows of $3 billion.
Kulkarni added that strong institutional flows continue to support the market’s upward trend, suggesting sustained returns in the long term.
“However, the focus will likely shift to the upcoming budget and earnings reports next week, which may lead to short-term market consolidation,” he said.
