Amritsar, 3 july–Cabinet Minister Mr Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal provided financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh from his pocket to the family of famous Punjabi singer Gurmeeet Bawa, who has been facing financial difficulties. The minister also handed over a check of Rs 1 lakh from the Red Cross Amritsar. Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori and other officials were also present on the occasion. Dhaliwal said that Gurmeeet Bawa’s family is going through a tough time due to some reasons, and his daughter Glory Bawa had mentioned this on social media, which moved him to provide assistance. However, he was shocked to learn that some people have illegally occupied five shops belonging to the family, which are their only source of income. Dhaliwal appealed to the shopkeepers to vacate the shops and hand them over to the family, failing which legal action would be taken. He also appealed to Punjabi singers, especially the new generation, to come forward and support Gurmeeet Bawa’s family in this difficult time.
