US Investigative Agency Enforces Ban on Sharing 737 Max Incident Details

NEW YORK 28 June 2024 Punjab Khabarnama : US investigators will prohibit Boeing, the aircraft manufacturer, from sharing information about the US federal investigation with the media. The investigation is related to an emergency situation that occurred on January 5th of this year, where a large hole was found in a Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft. Fortunately, the pilots were able to safely land the plane without any damage. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) stated on Thursday that Boeing has violated the agency’s investigation rules by providing non-public information to the media regarding the door plug installed in the emergency door of the plane and speculating about the possible causes of the incident. This incident occurred in Portland, Oregon, where a Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft operated by Alaska Airlines narrowly avoided a major accident. The additional emergency door on this plane was covered with a panel, which was torn off. However, the pilots successfully landed the plane without any damage. On Tuesday, a Boeing official provided non-public investigative information about the Alaska Airlines incident to the media, without verification or authorization for release. Boeing described the NTSB investigation as a search for the responsible party for the loose door plug, but the agency clarified that its focus is on determining the probable cause of the accident and not assigning blame to any individual. Boeing has not yet responded to the investigating agency’s request for comment.
