28 June 2024 Punjab Khabarnama : The residents of Punjab’s industrial city are once again experiencing a power outage, which is causing panic among them. The situation is getting worse as there is a lack of proper power supply in almost all parts of the city. The unannounced power cuts have been going on for several days, making it difficult for people to breathe in the hot and humid weather. Additionally, people in most areas are desperate for even a small amount of drinking water.
The power supply in Kila Mohalla, Valmiki Ghati, Daresi area, Division Number 3 Salem Tabri, Sarabha Nagar, Chandigarh Road, Gaushala Road, Field Ganj, Islam Ganj, and other parts of the city was cut off at around 5 am and could not be restored until 10:30 pm. This caused a lot of trouble for innocent children, elderly people, and especially those who are sick. The residents of the area, who are already facing a shortage of basic necessities like electricity and water, expressed their anger towards the departmental officers and employees. They questioned the officers’ claims of providing uninterrupted power supply for 24 hours to the general public, as there have been continuous unannounced power cuts and a lack of drinking water. People claim that whenever there is a little rain or wind in the city, the Power Com Department cuts off the power supply throughout the entire city. In the meantime, people were desperate to fill drinking water from the tanker that arrived in the area.
