Fazilka 28 June 2024 Punjab Khabarnama : Punjab Police has succeeded in busting an interstate drug smuggling gang. Police has busted the ‘big fish’ of drug smuggling and busted this syndicate operating from Jharkhand. 66 kg opium has also been recovered.
Punjab Police DGP has called it the biggest opium seizure of the decade. Along with this, the police has arrested 2 more accused and recovered Rs 1.86 crore from different bank accounts. Sharing information in this regard, Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav said that Fazilka Police has busted a big interstate opium smuggling gang. Fazilka Police has arrested the ‘big fish’ of this gang operating from Jharkhand and recovered 66 kg of opium. Along with this, 2 other smugglers associated with it were arrested and Rs 1.86 crore was seized from 42 bank accounts.
He said that the matter is being investigated thoroughly. The DGP said that as per the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Police is committed to make the state drug free.
