68 Children Flown Out of Gaza for Treatment Since May

National 28 June 2024 Punjab Khabarnama : Israeli officials said that for the first time since the only route to the Gaza Strip was closed in May, 68 sick and injured children and their companions have been allowed to go from the Gaza Strip to Egypt for treatment. The Israeli military body responsible for Palestinian civilian affairs, the ‘Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories’ (COGAT), said on Thursday that this work was done in coordination with officials from the US, Egypt and the international community. The

children and their companions were evacuated from the Gaza Strip through the Kerem Shalom border route and the patients have been sent to Egypt and other countries for treatment. The Israel-Hamas conflict, which has been going on for nearly nine months, has caused the most damage to Gaza’s health sector and most hospitals have had to be closed. Health officials say that there are thousands of people who need to be sent abroad for treatment, including hundreds who need it immediately.
