SAS Nagar, June 25 : To give the Mohali residents a big relief from the prolonged and persistent issue of rainwater entering the houses every year due to lack of proper drainage, especially in Phase-5 and Phase-11, SAS Nagar MLA Kulwant Singh, today started the de-silting of the stormwater pipeline from Gurudwara Singh Shaheeda to Kumbhran Chowk line. The project estimated at Rs 3.40 crore project for the cleaning of stormwater pipelines in the city will be helpful to resolve the issue of disposal of rainwater, he added. He said that taking feedback from the city residents for cleaning stormwater lines in various parts of the city, especially in Phase-1, Phase-4, Phase-5, Phase-6, Phase-7, Sector-70, Sector-71 and Phase-11, the instructions were given to the Municipal Corporation Authorities to prepare a foolproof plan to address this serious issue of entering stormwater to the homes. MLA Kulwant Singh said that the cleaning/de-silting work of the stormwater pipeline has been started with the ultra-modern machines and the officials of the Municipal Corporation have been instructed to clean the stormwater pipeline within a week. After that, it would be exhibited in the presence of city residents so that the work done can be evaluated according to public opinion. The MLA said that the Municipal Corporation was not paying any attention to the problems faced by the residents of the city for the past 3 years, due to which the condition of city parks and cleanliness in the city has become very bad besides Illegal encroachment in the city has made it difficult for people to cross the roads, but he is committed to addressing every problem of the city dwellers and said that with the large-scale cleaning of stormwater pipelines, the problem of accumulation of rainwater during the rainy season this year will become the thing of past. He said that the Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann has a great vision towards the holistic development of the state and he is equally committed to transforming Mohali city, a beautiful and modern city. Prominent among others present on the occasion included Harmesh Singh Kumbhra, Harpal Singh Channa, Naresh Batta, Superintending Engineer and other officials of the Municipal Corporation.
