June 12 (Punjab Khabarnama) : The Punjab Vigilance Bureau, during the anti-corruption campaign in the state, has exposed a fake recruitment scam in the Punjab Police, under the charge of accepting bribes of Rs. Two lower police officers have been arrested. The arrested persons were identified by the third IRB. Tarlochan Pal (No. 207/S) posted as Cleaner (Grade-4 Worker) resident of Mohalla Begampur, Adampur, District Jalandhar and co-accused Surinderpal (No. 3b) Resident born as a resident of Village Sikri, Nilokheri, District Karnal, Haryana.
Giving information in this regard today, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the said two accused were arrested after investigating the complaint lodged by Surinder Singh, a resident of village Nanglan, Tehsil Garhshankar, District Hoshiarpur, on the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line portal. is The spokesperson further said that during the investigation conducted by the Vigilance Bureau Jalandhar Range, the allegations made by the complainant were found to be true, due to which a case has been registered against the said two accused.
He said that the arrested accused Tarlochan Pal and the accused Surinderpal have been produced in the court today on 12.06.2024 and have been remanded for two days during which they will be interrogated in depth as to how many other innocent persons have been arrested. – 4 employees have been cheated on the pretense of recruitment and how much total amount was collected in this fake scam.
Giving further information, the spokesperson said that the investigation has revealed that the accused Tarlochan Pal and his accomplice Surinderpal in this work falsely assured the gullible youth that about 560 grade-4 posts are to be filled in Punjab Police during the coming months. . The said two accused with mutual collusion demanded Rs.25,000 bribe per person on the false pretense of being recruited as rank-4 employees in the Punjab Police and collected money in this way from about 102 persons from across the state.
As a result, Tarlochan Pal received a total of Rs 18,09,100 as bribe, which he deposited in various bank accounts and out of which he transferred Rs 5,45,000 to Surinder Pal’s HDFC. Transferred to bank account. Apart from this, Rs 7,93,826 was separately received as bribe in Surinderpal’s bank account. During the investigation, it has been found that a total of Rs 26,02,926 was taken as bribe by the two accused, Tarlochanpal and Surinderpal. Consequently, IPC against both the accused. Case No. 10 has been registered on 07/06/2024 under section 420 and 120-B and section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
He further said that the accused Surinderpal has admitted to the Vigilance Bureau during interrogation that he and Tarlochanpal had taken money from aspirants and gave about Rs.9.00 lakh to two employees posted at Punjab Police Headquarters Chandigarh. He also stated that some of the Rs 9.00 lakh was returned to him by the two employees at the headquarters after he was not recruited but the rest of the money was seized by him. The spokesperson said that the statements of the various victims who came out during the investigation are being called and their statements are being recorded from whom the said accused had taken bribes. Apart from this, other victims can also approach the bureau with complaints about taking bribes fraudulently by them in the next few days.
