June 12 (Punjab Khabarnama) : In the third term of the Modi government, the cabinet ministers have started taking charge. After taking over the post of Petroleum Minister again, Hardeep Singh Puri has given many important statements on Tuesday. As soon as he took charge, he said that efforts will be made to bring petrol and diesel under the ambit of GST. There have been talks about this earlier as well and the Cabinet Minister has given a statement on this on the very first day of his new tenure.
Where will the Petroleum Minister focus?
Hardeep Singh Puri said that there is no shortage of petrol and diesel. We will try to bring both commodities under the ambit of GST. There are continuous improvements in the petroleum sector. Along with this, the focus will be on green hydrogen and expansion of refinery. There will be an emphasis on increasing exploration and production. The profit of Oil & Gas PSUs has crossed Rs 1.50 lakh crore. There will be an effort to keep petrol and diesel in the affordable range.
Statement also came on BPCL
Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri also said that BPCL will soon open a new refinery. The capacity and location of the refinery are not decided at the moment. Along with this, the government’s goal will also be to achieve the target of ethanol blending. He said that the target of 15% ethanol blending will be achieved soon. The target is to achieve 20% ethanol blending by 2030. The minister said that he is not in favor of selling stake in government oil companies. Amidst this statement, BPCL shares were registering a rise of about 2%. The stock was trading around Rs 608. IOCL was also trading 1.5 percent higher. HPCL was also in the green zone.
