June 11 (Punjab Khabarnama) : Under the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, as part of the campaign being run in the state to strictly prevent adulteration in food products, a team of Health Department Sangrur today conducted a surprise raid at a food product manufacturing factory in village Jagatpura near Sunam Udham Singh Wala and after sampling, sealed the factory warehouse. During this raid conducted with the help of district police, the team of Health Department collected four samples of food products like murabba, amla candy, cherry etc. being prepared in the factory.
On this occasion, District Health Officer Dr. Baljit Singh said that a citizen had complained on the condition of anonymity that non-standard food items were being prepared in a private factory located in village Jagatpura of Sunam Udham Singh Wala. He said that taking immediate action on receiving the complaint, samples of various food items were collected and these samples were sent to the State Food Laboratory for testing. He said that the action of sealing the factory warehouses has been implemented till the report of the samples comes. He said that along with this, there was lack of cleanliness in the factory, due to which a challan has also been issued to the concerned firm.
The District Health Officer said that as per the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Jatinder Jorwal, the district administration is fully active to stop adulteration and no one will be allowed to play with the health of the people of the district by selling adulterated food items. He said that the administration under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to providing pure and quality food items to the people and the teams are fully alert to implement such actions from time to time.
On this occasion, SHO of Police Station City Sunam Sukhdeep Singh said that Punjab Police is fully committed to providing a safe environment to the citizens of the state. He said that full cooperation has been given to the team of the Health Department during the raid and if the report of these samples comes out bad, strict legal action will be taken against the concerned persons. Food Safety Officer Charanjit Singh and Chowki Incharge Davinder Singh were also present on this occasion.
